Today was kindergarten orientation! Jack and I rode the school bus together to and from school this morning. He was SO excited! When we arrived at school, we immediately walked inside and found his classroom. He easily found his cubby and of course had to sit inside it. Jack then walked around the classroom and checked things out--he most enjoyed playing with the tub of Legos that he found--and met his teacher, Mrs. Train, for the very first time. As I'd expected, he wasn't the least bit clingy, hesitant, or shy. After a few minutes, the parents were asked to leave the classroom for a bit to listen to a brief presentation by the school principal in the multi-purpose room. Jack gave me a kiss goodbye and immediately went back to playing with his Legos. I returned about twenty minutes later. When he saw me, he ran over to me with a huge grin on his face and gave me a great big hug. When I asked what he'd done while I was gone, he told me that Mrs. Train had read them a story and had given them a clear glass stone (can't remember what it was supposed to signify--have to ask him again in the morning!). After showing me his stone, he carefully placed it in his pocket so that he wouldn't lose it--very cute! And that was it! We walked outside, found our bus, climbed on board, and rode back to Miss Kelly's. He loves school already!
