Nanny, Papa, the kids and I went to see the Great Falls Model Railroad Club's model train exhibit, called the ExTRAINaganza. I literally had to pull the kids out the door after having been there for more than two hours. In addition to a number of model trains, they also had tables set up for children to make Christmas crafts. Initially, Elizabeth was uninterested in the many trains and gravitated to the craft table, where she made several ornaments that now grace our Christmas tree. Jack immediately ran to a Thomas the Tank Engine train set and was glued to the controls for the better part of a half hour. We eventually made our way to the ground floor, where there were a couple smaller model train exhibits and a much larger one--both kids had a chance to operate these trains. I spoke with several older men (my father's age) who clearly loved model railroading and sharing their love of the hobby with others. They spent a lot of time showing both Jack and Elizabeth how to operate the trains. As you can see, both Jack and Elizabeth were completely enthralled!
